Talking of refinement, the updated variant of 2K21 receives any serious improvement to the consumer experience as well. Firstly, the entire UI has been totally overhauled - it's unique to this next-gen edition. The rate of the storage allows for a 2K21 MT more lively team selection screen as well since it's possible to quickly load in new character models.
While there is even more about NBA 2K21 to discover, I think that this is a good primer about what you may expect from the new version of the game, but I guess the remaining question here boils down to how this name is delivered on each the next-gen systems. Well, the fantastic news is they're almost identical visually. PS5 and Series X equally provide a whole native 4K presentation - it looks super sharp on both systems and all visuals appear exactly the same between them. The PS4 Pro version which I used for last-gen testing, by the way, also appears to run at indigenous 4K but obviously using decreased visual fidelity. The 1 difference , predictably, is based with the Series S variant. You receive all the same next-gen visuals because it's bigger brother, just in a lower resolution.
I would say that NBA 2K21 is a great release for all consoles and far more impressive than I anticipated. While the limitations in the cartoon are still evident at things, it is the liquid and realistic-looking basketball game I have ever seen. Visual Concepts has established a high bar here when it comes to visual quality and this is just the start, really. It's also wonderful to realize that this variant is totally different from the last-gen iteration, suggesting they're building from a fresh starting point. I hope we will continue to find things improve over time and I'll be interested to learn how other companies like EA Sports manage the transition. FIFA 21 has only obtained its next-gen update (containing Frostbite's much-vaunted hair physics, no less) and we are going to be taking a look at this soon.
